Doughnut Muffin Recipe Review: The Back in the Day Bakery Cookbook

So my little girl is growing up. She is the youngest out of our three girls - second youngest out of the clan. She appears to be taking after the next oldest daughter with her baking skills. DIVINE! At 13 years old she has a gift. YUM for us!

For Christmas her Grandma bought this cookbook for her:

She has already tried out three of the recipes. So we decided it would be a fun school project for her to try out the recipes in the book and blog about them. (Or atleast contribute to the blog - after all her fingers are bound to be sticky and gooey with all of this fantastic yumminess being whipped up)

So this is going to be a Mother / Daughter Blog about all things Delicious. Our first goal is for Tori to create every recipe in the book - and for Mom to taste test. Haha! No really, I will.

If you would like to follow along with us we encourage you to purchase the book. This one was purchased at Barnes & Noble. You can click on their link above and see where else the books are sold. The pictures in the book are so delightful and so far the finished product is simply DIVINE!

Today we are posting photos and a review of the CINNAMON-SUGAR DOUGHNUT MUFFINS recipe.

Write up on their website about their new cookbook is this:
"Publication Date: March 6th 2012
Nationally recognized and locally adored for its decadent homespun desserts and delicious rustic breads, Back in the Day Bakery is a Savannah landmark. As Paula Deen says in her foreword, Cheryl and Griff Day "bake decadent treats, but they also bake wonderful memories that stay with you forever."

First time Tori ever used a sifter. (Lazy Mom usually skips this part of the process)

The batter for this recipe is thicker then most batters. You use an ice cream scoop to divide it into the muffin cups. Oh my - these are already looking scrumptious aren't they?

Cinnamon-Sugar Doughnut Muffins
...and yes indeedy. SCRUMPTIOUS. These are warm - rolled in butter then cinnamon and sugar. YUM!
The texture was delightful - a slight crumble to it. Sugar n' spice all things nice, tender and yummy!

FIVE STARS!

Welcome to My Little Muffin Cup. I will be posting recipes out of a cookbook I got for Christmas from my Grandma. I can't wait to share my successes and my bumps with you.
